Here are the five main names to know for 2018 recruiting:

Vic Viramontes: Viramontes is a former Michigan and Cal commit in high school. He was an early enrollee at Cal, but when head coach Sonny Dykes was let go, he transferred to Riverside CC. Right now he has an offer from Kansas and several smaller schools. Viramontes is planning an official to Kansas and would also like to see Minnesota. He could be a good fit for Fleck’s RPO offense and a good three-year option that will allow Tanner Morgan and a possible 2019 QB to develop.

This year for Riverside, he’s completed 74 of 112 passes (66.1%) for 1116 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He’s also the team’s leading rusher by far with 112 carries for 999 yards (8.9 ypc) and 13 touchdowns.

Zachary Wilson: Wilson a 5.5 three-star quarterback from Utah committed to Boise State. The Gophers have made a big push but Wilson and Minnesota don’t want him to say he has an offer because he’s currently committed to Boise State. Wilson told TGR: “I have heard from Minnesota lot...if I want to change and commit to Minnesota, I can call and commit.” He has strong interest in Minnesota right now. He has an official visit to Boise State set this weekend but is also hoping to visit Minnesota. Wilson’s a December grad and early enrollee so things will probably heat up pretty quickly.

Brevin White: White is a 5.8-rated four-star who committed to Princeton over offers from a handful of Power 5 programs. He has yet to get a Gopher offer but there’s certainly interest. Minnesota would have to convince him why going Power 5 is a better option than Princeton, which is something that Arizona State, Oregon State, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Washington State couldn’t do. He’s has an accurate arm, and has a good feel/understanding of the game which in some ways makes him more college ready than most high school prospects, although I don’t think he has elite arm strength or athleticism.

Gerry Bohanon: Bohanon is a 5.7 three-star who has listed Arkansas, Baylor, Louisville, and Mississippi as his top schools and has recent strong interest from LSU, where he recently visited. Minnesota would be playing from behind a little bit but has made calls. Bohanon will be an early enrollee and is a big, strong, mobile quarterback.

Trad Beatty
: Trad is a 5.6 three-star from Columbia, SC who committed to Temple over offers from NC State, and several smaller schools including a few Ivies. Beatty's coach tells TGR that Minnesota has been in touch with him "but not much." He's a big quarterback at 6'5" and 223 pounds.
