Did the players on both teams ever stand on the same sideline, like what happened during the Vikings games at the old Metropolitan Stadium?? Was that true for any of the old stadiums in the Big Ten or in the nation??

PARENTHETICAL: I have to admit I am thinking of the passing of Fogo49... Loved learning history from that poster and it is hitting me that unless that stuff is discussed or written down, that history disappears forever.... Looking back, if I had the chance now, I would pick his brain for every ounce of history he remembered.. For those of you who know Gopher history, I wish we would have topics from time to time that would discuss it so younger posters would at least have some exposure to history.. I know it has happened quite a bit but as a person who loves history, I would like to see it even more. THERE ARE ABOUT 20-25 OLDER POSTERS ON THIS BOARD THAT I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE OUT TO BREAKFAST(I would buy) AND BLOW A WHOLE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON LISTENING TO YOU SPEAK ABOUT GOPHER HISTORY... Honestly that would be a joy of my life.

Anyways, I remember that the old Met stadium as well as Bud Grant being quirky, which is very interesting to me.... No sideline heaters for the Vikings. Grant would take time out of football practice to have the guys learn to stand at attention for the national anthem.. That tarp rolled up at the end of the endzone that guys would fall over, from time to time...A good distance from the sideline to the first row of seats of the seating behind the players sideline.... I always wondered when the Vikings played that the coaches and players ON THE SIDELINE could never cross the 50 yard line. Both teams stood on the same sideline. I think the press was relegated to the other sideline and Grant did not want them mingling with the team during the game. Would not work in today's game with sideline reporters. SO if your team was driving down the other side of the field from where the team was standing, guys like Fran Tarkenton would have to jog 40-50 yards just to talk to the coaches on the sideline during a timeout. Rewatched the Browns-Vikings game of 1980 on Youtube where Ahmad Rashad caught a last second td pass from Tommy Kramer to win the game.... Lots of memories flooded and the quirkiness of the old Met came back to memory.

Just made me interested to know if college teams did the same.. With all the jubilation and frustration of 18-23 year old kids, I could imagine that if both teams were on the same sideline that it could get quite interesting so that is the thrust of why I asked the question.
