Rashad Still has been selected to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday.
The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Hall of Famer Earl Campbell. The nominee must also be born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year college.
Still, a native of El Paso, Texas, played in Played in 10 games and made 18 catches for 349 yards as a sophomore. He also rushed one time for eight yards and returned an onside kick attempt for 30 yards. As a freshman Still made 18 grabs for 194 yards and three touchdowns.
Throughout his career Still has showed big game potential. He caught four balls for 87 yards against Purdue a season ago. As a freshman two of his best performances came against Michigan and Ohio State. He caught two passes for 69 yards against Michigan, which included a 52-yard reception for his first-career touchdown. He followed it up with six catches for 41 yards and a touchdown at Ohio State.
The winner will be announced at The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet.
