Would like to point out that for years a "Redshirt Freshman" was thought of as a Sophomore and "Redshirt Sophomores" were thought of as Juniors. Because that is what they are. They are participants in all team activities such as practices, workouts, travel, dress, and meetings. Coaches liked having them, but they were never treated or thought of as Freshman. You know, High School kids who were new to everything around them.

Because they weren't and aren't.

P. J. keeps talking about how young his team is. Just like every Gopher Head Coach since who knows, Cal Stoll maybe? They've all talked about having a "young team". Fleck is probably right, just like Holtz, Salem, Wacker, Mason, Brewster and Kill were when they said it. Honestly don't remember if Gutey or Claeys talked about their team being young or not, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

Not sure how many Redshirts on the present team either. Just know that when we think about how young those Redshirts are, we should remember that they aren't really Freshmen and Sophomores, no matter how confusing it is or how people want to spin it. They have been through the program for a year or two already.

Don't know about you but, "yeah but" or not, that gives me some comfort going into the season.
