Regents elections...Rosha, Hsu, Anderson new; Beeson, Simmons reelected

I know Rosha is a Gopher fan. Don't know much about others.

Darrin Rosha, a former student
regent, beat out former U.S. Rep. Bill Luther in the contest to
represent Minnesota's 3rd Congressional District on the University of
Minnesota Board of Regents. Luther and Rosha were not among the
candidates recommended by members of the House and Senate higher
education committees, but were nominated from the floor during the joint
session.


In the 1st District, Dr.
Patricia Simmons of Rochester beat Randy Simonson of Worthington to win
re-election to the board. This is Simmons' third term; she was first
elected in 2003.

In the 4th District, St. Paul's Richard Beeson was elected to a
second term without opposition. He is currently chair of the board.

Michael Hsu won the 6th District over Steve Laraway, who was
nominated from the floor.

Thomas Anderson won the 7th District over
