University of Minnesota defensive lineman Thomas Rush has accepted an invitation to compete in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. The annual game is one of premier postseason showcase events in college football and will be played on Jan. 28, 2023, at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif.
Rush competed in all 13 games this year and finished the season with 34 tackles (20 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two pass breakups and one forced fumble.
Rush played in 59 career games for the Gophers and made 86 tackles (55 solo). He also totaled 13.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. Rush broke up five passes in his career and forced one fumble and recovered one fumble.
Rush is the seventh Gopher to accept an invitation to a showcase bowl. All-American center John Michael Schmitz will participate in the Senior Bowl, while All-American running back Mohamed Ibrahim and defensive backs Terell Smith and Jordan Howden will play in the East-West Shrine Bowl. Quarterback Tanner Morgan and linebacker Mariano Sori-Marin will play in the Hula Bowl.
