Some Saturday morning notes to pass along....
- The race for Wyatt Gilmore seems to be trending more and more towards Oklahoma. FutureCasts have been entered in the Sooners favor from our guys at OUInsider.com as well as others among the recruiting industry.
- The battle for Emerson Mandell appears to be a tight one. The in-state OL has taken officials to Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa State. Hearing it's more of a Gophers/Badgers battle right now, but also wouldn't rule out the Cyclones as well since they've been recruiting him for a while. Fleck vs. Fickell - interested to see who wins the street fight.
- Brett Carroll, another OL target, is wrapping up his June official schedule with Oklahoma State this weekend. He remains a viable option for the Gophers after his official. The three-star has also taken officials with Texas Tech and Illinois as well. It seems all four schools are on equal ground at the moment. Oklahoma State is the closest school to Carroll, but we're not not sure if that will play a big role in his decision.
- Staying with the OL theme, we have every reason to believe that Caleb Pyfrom will end up at Nebraska. He has taken officials with he Huskers, Minnesota, and is wrapping things up with Illinois this weekend. Matt Rhule is making a big push to lock down the top talent in the state of Nebraska and we've been told from reliable sources that Pyfrom is towards the top of their wish list.
- DE target Mason Carter is visiting Vanderbilt this weekend. However, he told us that Minnesota left a strong impression with him during last weekend's official with the Gophers. He's taken officials to Rutgers and Missouri as well. We've heard he's not a take for Missouri at this time, so we can rule them out. Stanford just came in with an offer, so not sure if that will have an influence on his recruiting process moving forward as he plans to make his college decision in mid-July.
- Minnesota also brought in Spain Park (Ala.) wide receiver Jonathan Bibbs last week for an official visit. He came into the visit without an offer and still doesn't have one post-visit either, but the Gophers are going to continue evaluating him as he's expected to be back for the Gophers' camp on July 29th in hopes of earning an offer and joining the class.
