Jack McNeil:
Strengths:
· Athleticism – played quarterback all of his senior year
· Ideal size – 6’5” 245 pounds
· Willing blocker; Consistently blocks to the whistle and plants defenders to the ground
· Natural pass catcher. Willing to go over the middle and catch the ball high
Weaknesses:
· Speed (his speed did look much better in his senior year film that junior year)
· Routes were not extremely crisp
· Not a home run threat
McNeil is a tougher evaluation since he projects as a TE, but only played TE his junior year. His senior year he played QB all year. He’s a good athlete and is a natural pass catcher. I was most impressed with his willingness to block as a junior. He’s excellent at that. His one knock is his speed isn’t great, and he’ll for sure need to be polished as a route runner, which will come with time. Overall, he’s a good athlete who I think the Gophers will find a spot for at some point in the future.
