We're getting close to breaking ground on building a new house. I've been starting some research on "Smart Homes" to see if there is anything I need to think about while they are wiring, low voltage, etc.
Anybody have good experience with Apple Homekit or using Alexa for more than playing music?
Any advice on installing anything during the build like lights, door locks, etc?
I'm not really sure how far (if much at all) I'd want to take it but some of the stuff like being able to turn off lights at bedtime, garage door opening as phones approach, thermostat for energy efficiencies seem interesting enough. This probably also means AppleTV vs. Amazon Fire as well.
Wife and I both have iphones and an ipad but also pretty loyal Amazon prime. (Thinking google home is the least likely pursuit of the three "main" options.)
Any thoughts oh wise Dinkytown?
