Straight cash homey.

Minnesota's Blake Cashman was a terror on Thursday night as the Gophers pummeled New Mexico State 48-10 to open the season. The former walk-on from Eden Prairie, Minn., registered a career-high four tackles for loss in Minnesota's dominating win. He finished his night with eight tackles (six solo), one sack and one pass breakup.

Pro Football Focus tracked the senior as notching five quarterback pressures on just eight pass-rush snaps. Cashman's four tackles for loss tied Steven Richardson's TCF Bank Stadium record, which was set on Sept. 24, 2016 versus Colorado State. The four tackles for loss also tie Cashman for third all-time for a Gopher in a single game.

Cashman has played in 37 career games and is a standout on special teams. This year could be a special year for the Minnesotan as he is expected to see extended time on defense. When his number has been called, he has flashed big-play potential. He has 87 career tackles, but 20 of them have been tackles for loss and 10.5 of them have been sacks. He is somebody that opposing teams will have to account for at all time when he is on the field.
