The question came to me as I read about a recruit named Brown who wants to be “legendary”... certainly not something you hear young players say these days.

Who fits that bill in Gopher football history? Eslinger, Carter, Maroney? Bobby Bell? Sandy Stephens? Paul Giel? Bruce Smith? Pug Lund?
Nagurski?

The only Gopher who is truly considered “legendary” in my view, outside of Gopher Nation would probably be Nagurski ...
