People. This Indiana game should not be the judge of anything as to if Pitino should be back or not. This shouldn’t be the final straw for anyone. Sure judge him on previous games when he had more horses in the race but you can’t seriously look at this current roster and think we have the players to win right now can you? And yes, we know the roster is his fault so that’s on him but 2 of the guys (gaston, konate) were mistakes 4 years ago when he literally had 2 years of coaching experience. I have developed some things that make me question him at times but I really can’t form much of an opinion off this Indiana game.

Our 2 best players are playing yes so it makes it seem like it’s possible, but then you take out players 3-6, and knowing everyone knew we had a bad bench to begin the season, now those guys are the other 3 starters and our first guys off the bench this is what you get.

Let’s play a game, here is who Duke would be playing if their 3-6 were not (no duvall, Trent jr, Wendell carter, Marquise Bolden) I kept their #1 and #2 players

Pg - Jordan Goldwire
Sg - Grayson Allen
Sf - Alex O’Connell
Pf - Marvin Bagley
C - Antonio Vrankovic

Off the bench:
Jack white? Mike buckmire? Bremen Bessel? Javin DeLaurier? I have ZERO clue who any of these guys are. NONE

This team would hang in there at times (just like the gophers) due to having a couple of really good talents but there is NO WAY that they would have a chance to do anything or go anywhere. I’m sure @stroke the post would agree. Also, imagine how Bagely would do if he knew he couldn’t get in foul trouble? Would he be as aggressive inside on defense knowing who has to come off the bench?l and they need him badly on the floor?

This is the preason #1 team. I could do this with any team outside of mich st who has some legit depth and many bench kids with experience and you would look at the roster and think wow... that’s not going to go well.

Next year if health returns you will NOT see at all or at least major mins from: konate, Gaston, Mason, fitz , Hurt, and Harris IMO. That’s 6 out of our current 8 who are playing right now that will not be here or play minor roles. The mason departure will be huge of course. Washington and Murphy will be only 2 who will have major roles who are currently playing. Guys we don’t see:

Mcbrayer, Stockmon, kalesuer, Omersa, Orturu, Coffey, curry, and a player or possibly 2 to be named later with open scholarships.

This year has been polar opposite with expectations but play the game where you gut players 3-6 on any roster and it will give you perspective IMO
