Kunle Ayinde
  • Played some corner in the spring so moving from safety to corner wasn't too big of a transition, just needed to learn his role in the schemes.
  • Iowa has a good offensive line and a very good running back. Dominating the LOS will be an emphasis is the first key.
  • Kinnick is a tough environment. The fans are always talking, doing what they do.
  • Being a walk-on helped his work ethic and how he approached each day and setting goals. Watching his parents sacrifice so much for him has shaped how he approaches things in life.
  • Every game is approached the same. You don't get more hyped for a rivalry game more than anything else. Preparation is the same.
  • Practice today had a big emphasis on attacking and setting the edge.
  • Majoring in Kinesiology and dreams of owning sports performance facilities.
  • Everyday Mo Linguist comes with the same amount of passion whether he gets one hour of sleep, two hours of sleep, or a whole night of sleep.
  • Schematically not much is different than last year for the secondary, but some things are different with techniques. For example, the corners don't pedal as much as they used to and are using a shuffle technique.
PJ Fleck
  • Wishing Minnesota high schools luck as the playoffs start.
  • Wants to thank Mortenson Construction. Got an Athletes Village for the first time in a while and it's beautiful.
  • Used to play video games and got to educate himself through trophy games that way.
  • It's a dream come true to be coaching in games like this.
  • Why so few penalties? We're a disciplined football team and have a disciplined culture.
  • The team just celebrated an academic accomplishment of Jaylen Waters.
  • Every week the players are shown examples of NFL and college teams not being disciplined and how it cost them. It's not "don't do this" because it's not about don'ts. You need to be able to direct your energy in the right way and not let circumstances dictate your behavior.
  • Takes it personally that Demry didn't have a better first start and needs to get him better prepared.
  • Will address the team or players about JoJo Garcia once he gets more information. Rey Estes' cousin and best friend and Chris Bell's best friend were all killed recently.
  • Balancing carries with the three backs isn't as much balancing the hot hand as much as it is giving them carries on plays that play to their strengths.
  • Kunle Ayinde has been playing at a very high level. He's what the RTB culture is all about. He's a tremendous leader and student.
  • Never been around a better DB coach in his entire career than Mo Linguist, with all due respect to the other DB coaches. Justus Harris wouldn't be where he is without Linguist. Linguist has a saying "because it's important" that he gets made of him. Everything is important to Mo Linguist.
  • Thomas Barber has grown as a person since week one. He's willing to take the responsibility on his shoulders.
  • The edge rushes got better as the Illinois game went along. Carter Coughlin is really coming along.
  • Steven Richardson is playing at a very high level even if the stats aren't there.
  • Comes close to coaching all 125 kids in practice and takes pride in that. It's not just saying "great job" but actually coaching them. Also takes notes of practice so he can coach coaches after practice. Has a list of about 50 things that he goes over to coach the coaches in Tuesday meetings.
  • Rodney has incredible vision. Kobe runs behind his pads really well. Shannon does a great job of going from speed to power quickly. Shannon does a great job of hitting the opening hard on the inside zone.
  • The Gophers will participate in the first quarter wave at Iowa.
