  • Didn't do enough to win the football game, but the team was disciplined. Just didn't make enough plays.
  • The team had a really good practice on Sunday.
  • Thought the line played okay but didn't do enough. They need to have lower pad level, finish blocks, and move people. It can be hard for lineman to pick up on things when it's their third coaching staff in three years. Having only four lineman in the spring is also tough.
  • There's a table in the meeting room that breaks down their turnover margin. The ball is the program.
  • Leaning towards not playing Antoine Winfield. He'll be back at some point and if he's not, he's not.
  • Tanner Morgan is getting a lot better. He's had exponential growth. Football and his life are incredibly important to him. I don't want to have to pull his redshirt.
  • Doing everything we can to not run Conor Rhoda. Don't have the depth at quarterback like Maryland did.
  • Demry Croft is back on the team.
  • If you get hurt, you can have your spot back. You can never lose your spot due to injury or a circumstance you cannot control. When you can control the circumstance, you need to show why you should be where you were.
  • Are teams throwing at Shenault? He's one of our best players.
  • Every player has their own natural progression. Not everyone progresses at the same rate or has the same timeline.
  • It's obvious we're going to run the ball. The scheme isn't changing - going to do what the offensive lineman can do. Need to figure out the strengths and what every position group can do and eliminate their weaknesses.
  • Ty Johnson against Oregon State reminded him of Corey Davis in year 2. Corey dropped a lot of balls in year 1 and year 2. He had to fail to get where he was.
  • When you're doing things for people, you'll never quit. When you're doing things for yourself, you'll quit. The team needs to understand that when it gets hard, you're doing it for for someone, for each other. That's what we preached at WMU.
  • Joe Tiller is one of the best coaches and people in Big Ten history. Got a chance to meet him once or twice but didn't know him very well. In the Big Ten, we need to support him, his family, and the Purdue family.
  • Coach Brohm is one of the best coaches in the country and one of the best offensive minds in the country. David Blough has failed so much that he has scars and can now succeed. He's a champion for life. #2 at quarterback has one of the best arms in the country. Purdue will spread you out and will run every play in footblal, from reverses to flea flickers. There flea flickers are like inside zones. They run it a lot. Will run all sorts of plays from reverses to screens to flea flickers. Jokes sthat it's like inside zone. Maybe the best punter.
  • There will be three wideouts (Bateman, Gibson, Manns) that will come in that will play next year, so we're only going to get younger at WR.
  • Steven Richardson doesn't have great stats but he's played his role really well.
  • There are geese all over the football offices. Geese fly in a V. There's a lot of people on the team who have never led. The goose on the front of the V have to work the hardest. The ones on the side draft. The ones in the best work the hardest and have to push the geese to keep flying.
  • Lingen had his best game of the year against Maryland.
Conor Rhoda
  • Coaches were the same after the loss. They focus on the how and the process.
  • The sky's the limit for Tanner Morgan. He's incredibly smart on and off the field.
  • The captains' breakfasts are great. They talk about things that we don't know yet because we don't have that experience.
  • Purdue's defense has a lot of experience in the front seven and their defensive line is very talented.
