Game 1 tonight was a matchup between Team Jones and Hybrid Nation. Team Jones notable players included Tyus Jones, Quinton Hooker, and former Lakeville South/Augustana star Al Richter. Team Jones was in control for most of the game but Hybrid Nation tied it up at 77 and the game was within seven points the rest of the way. Hybrid Nation was led by Nate Mason and Amir Coffey, who were both impressive tonight. In the end, Team Jones pulled away and made a couple more plays late, winning the game 102-97.

Nate Mason: 20 pts, 7 rebs, 8 assists, 2 steals. 9/26 FG, 1/8 3FG, 1/2 FT.
-By far the best Nate has looked this summer in Pro Am competition. He was aggressive all night long and was always looking to score.
-Nate was getting good shots but missed too many good open looks tonight. He was creating separation and getting to the elbow for his patented mid-range pull up but was inconsistent at knocking them down.
-Some of Nate's top plays tonight included four separate attacking layups, three of them in transition and one in the half court. He was explosive off the dribble and used a nice in and out dribble to throw off defenders and get by them to the hole.

-His best sequence of the game came in the third quarter when he was guarded by Tyus and used a pick and roll to perfection, keeping Tyus on his back and sticking a right elbow jumper. Right after this he grabbed a defensive rebound and turned that into a transition pull up three the other way.
-Nate did a good job on Tyus defensively. He seemed to know what Tyus wanted to do in transition and forced him into missing several difficult shots at the rim. He even picked his pocket going up for two one time as well.
-My favorite move of Nate's tonight was when he took two dribble's right at the top of the key, went behind his back to create separation and drilled a 16 footer over his man.
-Despite missing a number of open looks tonight, it was good to see Nate playing aggressively and stepping up to the challenge of going against an NBA player in Tyus Jones. Shot selection will be key for him this season, as he shot just 37% last season and there are too many options on next year's team for him to be shooting that low of a percentage by forcing tough shots.

Amir Coffey: 20 pts, 6 reb, 2 assts. 7/14 FG's, 1/2 3FG, 5/6 FT.
-Amir started off the game red-hot tonight. He came off the bench to start and hit a wide open 17 foot jump shot from the top of the key.

-A couple possessions later he hit a feet set three from the right corner off a Nate Mason pass. He looked very confident shooting the ball and ran back across the court before it even went in. A minute or so later he posted up, caught the ball on the right wing, and stuck an 18 foot jumper over Quinton Hooker.
-Twice tonight Amir grabbed his own miss from jump shots and one of the times brought it out to the left wing, called for a screen, and dribbled into the lane before hitting an 8 foot floater over a defender.
-Coffey seems to have gained a step on the defensive end and he was never the guy who was being attacked one on one on the defensive end. His length makes it hard to shoot over him and he is quick enough to stay with most guards and wings trying to drive to the hoop.
-Amir had a couple wide open looks tonight rim out but 7/14 is a really solid night of shooting any way you put it. He also had a couple dunks off dishes from Nate Mason for easy finishes.
-One disappointing part was that he was subbed out with 5 minutes to play in a two point game. Would have liked to have seen what kind of outcome would have come if he would have stayed in.

Tyus Jones: 24 pts, 5 rebs, 10 assts. 8/22 FG's, 1/6 3FG's, 8/10 FT.
-Tyus has such a good feel for the game and watching him navigate the pick and roll on offense is a thing of beauty.
-If his man goes under the screen, he can hit a 20 foot jumper, if his man tries to follow, he keeps them on his back and can get in the lane for a floater or if the help defender over commits he can create a passing angle and hit the roller for an easy layup.
-Tyus was relatively cold from the field tonight. He missed several open shots that he usually connects on. Nate Mason also did a good job defending him and making him take difficult shots at the rim. His passing was 100% on point though and was the ultimate difference in the game.

Quinton Hooker:
27 pts. 10/14 FG's, 2/3 3FG's, 5/6 FT.
-Hooker was on fire tonight. He uses his superior upper body strength compared to other guards to get in the paint and he has excellent touch at the rim.
-Most of his makes were in the paint, but he did hit back to back left wing three's to start the second half and extend Team Jones lead to double digits. One of his three's he even caught it running to the spot in a full sprint and his the shot falling out of bounds.
-The UND graduate was the leading scorer in the game tonight.

Al Richter: 13 points.
-Richter hit three three-pointer's and had a slashing drive for a finish. He also hit both of his free throws. He was an excellent DII college player at Augustana and could have definitely helped many mid-major teams out.

Game 2 Notes: Team Diggs 115 N1 Motion 108.
-Jordan Murphy led N1 Motion with 21 points. He was hitting faceup jumpers, scoring in the lane, and blocking shots. Business as usual for Murphy who looks to have taken a big jump on the offensive end from last year.

-Colorado signee and former Gopher target McKinley Wright played for Diggs Team and scored 21 points tonight.
-Isaiah Washington, Dupree McBrayer, Gaston Diedhiou and Gabe Kalscheur did not play tonight.
