To no one's surprise as Dutcher has been "coach in waiting" for Steve Fisher at San Diego State..He is in a nice area out there with lots of talented recruits within a 4-5 hour drive of the campus... Hopefully, Brian does well out there.

IN REGARDS TO FISHER, time flies, as I remember the 1989 Michigan team won the national championship in basketball under Fisher... Team had Rumeal Robinson, Glen Rice, Terry Mills, Loy Vaught, Mark Hughes, Mark Griffin, Rob Pelinka, Sean Higgins.....Many young people dont remember as they think the "being a Michigan man" was Bo Schembechler's address to football.... It was basketball where this was verbalized... Bill Frieder was coach of Michigan that entire year and looked at an opportunity to coach Arizona State.. Frieder told Schembechler(who was the Michigan AD at the time) that and Schembechler responded that he wanted the team to be coached by a "Michigan man"... Schembechler replaced Frieder with Fisher before the NCAAs started. Of course, Michigan made that run and beat an Illinois team that was one of the best in the nation. Michigan got beat by Illinois in the regular season but beat Illinois in the national semis then beat Seton Hall in a great NCAA finals.

Of course, Fisher will be best known for recruiting the Fab Five..... It is interesting history as that may be one of the best starting 5s ever yet NO BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS and NO NATIONAL TITLES, though they made the NCAA finals 2 years in a row. Hard to believe that was 25 years ago.
