The first schedule for the Minnesota women's basketball team under the direction of head coach Lindsay Whalen was released Tuesday featuring 29 games, including 18 home contests. Tipoff times and TV/online coverage will be announced at later dates.
Hired in April as the 12th head coach in program history, Whalen will make her head coaching debut on Friday, Nov. 9 against New Hampshire. Tickets for the home opener are on sale now for just $5 for Zones 1 and 2 and just $1 for seats in Zone 3. Fans can purchase tickets online at GopherSports.com or by calling 612-624-8080.
After a road game at Xavier (Nov. 14), Minnesota kicks off a stretch of six straight home games, beginning with visits from San Diego (Nov. 17), Arkansas Pine Bluff (Nov. 20), and Cornell (Nov. 23).
The Gophers then take part in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 29 by hosting Syracuse in the first-ever meeting between the schools. The Golden Gophers are 4-7 all-time in the event, including a 3-2 mark at home. In its history, Minnesota is 25-17 against teams currently in the Atlantic Coast Conference, with victories in two of its last three games against teams in the league.
As the calendar turns to December, the six-game home stretch concludes with games against Air Force (Dec. 2) and Incarnate Word (Dec. 5). Minnesota then leaves home for the second time in the season as it plays at Boston College on Dec. 9. The non-conference action finishes back at Williams Arena with matchups against Coppin State (Dec. 12) and Rhode Island (Dec. 22).
The Big Ten slate begins on Dec. 28 as Minnesota goes for its 12th straight win in the Border Battle series with Wisconsin, while the Gophers head to Michigan on Dec. 31 to close out 2018.
Eight games are on the docket in the month of January, beginning with a home meeting with Illinois (Jan. 6). After a visit to Michigan State (Jan. 9), Minnesota returns home to take on Iowa (Jan. 14). The Gophers then hit the road for games at Wisconsin (Jan. 17) and Nebraska (Jan. 20), returning to The Barn for back-to-back contests against Purdue (Jan. 24) and Ohio State (Jan. 28). A trip to Northwestern on Jan. 31 wraps up play in January.

Rutgers (Feb. 3), Northwestern (Feb. 10) and Penn State (Feb. 17) come to The Barn on consecutive Sundays during the month, while the Golden Gophers travel to Indiana (Feb. 6), Purdue (Feb. 14), Maryland (Feb. 21) and Rutgers (Feb. 28).
The regular season finishes up on March 3 with the home finale against Michigan State.
The 2019 Big Ten Tournament will be held in Indianapolis, March 6-10.
