I am VERY HAPPY with our recruiting class.. Lots of talent and athleticism.. With this many new players, this coming year will have lots of growing pains and steep learning curves as you really only have 3 players on the team(Joey King, Carlos Morris, and Nate Mason) with lots of game experience to speak of.. Yes, I know Buggs, Konate, and Diedhou played a bit, Bakary and Buggs had some moments that gave some reason to cheer.. But essentially you have 9 new guys in the program including Bakary and Gaston, PLUS Charles Buggs still learning the game. There are gonna be some real rough patches to watch for us as fans next year in conference but the guys will be good over time, I think. I have very little expectations of next year's team as there is so many new faces but real high hopes in future years with all that talent..

This leads me to what I think is gonna be interesting. We will have one scholarship left to give in each of the next 2 years, IF there are no transfers out or kids leaving. That is a HUGE assumption as there are always issues with kids transferring out, injuries, academics, off-the-court issues, etc.. I hope it doesn't happen but it may.

Since this class is basically done, I would like to ask you guys the question, "Who would you want for each valuable scholarship for the next 2 classes??" I know that we will have to see how next year's team will be first before we can really say.

The projected 2016-2017 roster(Michael Hurt is committed and one other scholarship will be available). Redshirts, transfers, or leaving the program for whatever reason are not considered as that may change the classes listed. Plus I didnt put down some other walk ons besides Sharp, that would get playing time.

BIGS(C and PF): Reggie Lynch - Jr.; Bakary - Jr.; Gaston - Jr; Nwankwo - So.; Murphy - So.

Wings(SF and SG): Buggs - Sr; Mason - Jr.; McBrayer - So.; Gilbert - So; Sharp - WO So.; Hurt -Fr.

Point Guard: Dorsey - So.; Johnson - So.

I know you could list Mason and Johnson at either PG or wing.

WHO WOULD YOU WANT FOR THAT OTHER SCHOLARSHIP TO ADD TO THIS TEAM??

OPTIONS SO FAR:
-Amir Coffey - top player and potential legacy recruit. Can never have enough long wings. Would do so much to help the perception of Twin Cities players going to the Gophers. I bet everyone will be watching Amir's injury rehab this coming year before recruiting him seriously again.

-Reed Nikko- When Ryan J brought him up, I did some reading on him.. He may be a great fit on ability alone but an extra reason to cheer for him is his Dad died a couple of years ago(was not even 50 years old yet) so he is a guy I wouldn't mind in a Gopher uniform at a position of need. He may have the "fire in his belly" and play extremely well in memory of his Dad. He is a mobile big in the 6-9 range as far as height and 210-220 in weight, I think.

- Shamorie Ponds - Another small guard but top player from NYC

-Quinton Goodin - top rated guard that brings lots of good things to the table.

-One of the other Minnesota kids like Steffan Mitchell.

-Another unmentioned potential recruit.

Who do you WANT the Gophers to get and who do you THINK the Gophers will get with the last scholarship for 2016??
