I knew that Minnesota is well stocked in the farm system at the OF positions so this would be a draft emphasizing the 'diamond area' itself.... I think Minnesota drafted a lot of people on the 3rd base side of the infield.. Shortstops are nice to draft because of their versatility.. Can move them to 3rd base, 2nd base, or even the outfield for that matter.
The Cavaco kid is a fast rising prospect, as I understand.. High praise from those who saw him play but the pitching he saw doesn't sound like it was the best.. The kid can run, as I heard his times from home to first weren't far off from Buxton...Once he fills out, he may lose that speed a bit but still sounds very fast. For a 3rd baseman prospect, that is unusual... Got another 3B prospect a bit later and a couple other SS.
The Wallner kid from Forest Lake sounds intriguing... Big guy with a cannon of an arm. I understand he is pretty slow afoot and may strike out a lot as a hitter.. But I understand he can hit a ball, a country mile. Plus he throws in the high 90s from the mound.
Canterino from Rice sounds like another Odrizzi.. Throws in the low 90s with a lot of breaking stuff that are out pitches.. I would like the Twins to address catchers a little later in the draft and see if we can steal some good underrated prospects at pitcher down the line.
