Early commits create buzz and excitement, which is a very good thing.....But the ONLY THING that matters at the end of the day is the kids we SIGN to a LOI, not just a commit...Then, the recruiting rankings are satisfying and the buzz should REALLY begin. I am NOT happy about losing Shannon and the tackle from Georgia but I cant say I didnt think this might happen. KIDS ARE FAIR GAME FOR OTHER SCHOOLS TO RECRUIT UNTIL THE LOI IS SIGNED.... We will probably lose more in the future but that is evidence we are recruiting better players. I still think it will be an excellent recruiting class.

We have known the term, "COMMIT" is a relative term in the recruiting process, especially when signing day is a ways away. I still think we will have a better recruiting class than we have seen before but maybe not as good as we might have thought, early in Fleck's Gopher career. IT IS A PROCESS.. We will still have very talented kids to be excited in the program and I think it will get progressively better,..It seems that the only teams that dont have to worry about getting poached after early buzz is the top programs... Yes, they may lose a few kids as well but nothing that really affects the quality of their classes.

I do wonder if Minnesota will be able to 'flip the script' and start getting commits to big schools to re-commit to the Gophers.. That is part of the dream of mine that we are looked at, in that vain..."JUST WIN BABY" is a big part of it... I am sure recruits love Fleck but I am also sure that many future recruits are going to wait to see if the "Row the Boat" is for real or just hype. I say that we have a chance to flip recruits consistently from P5 schools in 4 YEARS, assuming Fleck stays... That gives us enough time to improve and show recruits that this is not hype....Total speculation but I think that is the amount of time it will take to solidify recruits in taking the Gophers serious as one of the elite programs.
