Great win for the Gophers.. I suppose people could use the excuse that Providence was missing 2 significant players on their team but this was a great win. I was really excited about a few things.

JORDAN MURPHY: He is a beast.. 2 things he has worked on his game in the off season.. When he puts the ball on the floor, he is much stronger on the dribble and does not get the ball knocked away like in the past... Very strong moves to the bucket.. And he is developing that mid range shot, which will add HUGE TO THE SUCCESS of his game. I would think he will be on some All Big Ten teams if he maintains this trajectory.

AMIR COFFEY: Good shooting from outside.. Has worked on his shooting consistency...His length is lethal on the wing.. Plus he is more aggressive in his help with ball handling

REGGIE LYNCH: Got into the offense early.. Good low post passing with Murphy. Strong moves

NATE MASON: More disciplined on the dribble though he pulled up early with the shot a few times. Directed the offense well, I thought. Did not try to do too much.. Showing good leadership skills and hustled on defense.

DUPREE MCBRAYER: Critical in guarding the taller wings. Good on the run outs

ISAIAH WASHINGTON: He had a few minutes in this game where he filled the lull in action. Does a lot of things well to help the team on both ends.. Plays like a veteran at times,

MICHAEL HURT: Great minutes from this kid... You can see he is SO MUCH MORE CONFIDENT in his game ability than last year.. Looks a bit stronger and better physical shape.. That team he played with over the summer probably helped. Will be needed for extended minutes in future games.

DEVONTE FITZGERALD: Needs to get into better playing shape but it has been a long time since he got court time in real games...Looks a little slow at this point but that will probably change.

BAKARY KONATE: He is what he is, but needed for depth.

COACH PITINO: I thought he used his bench well. Used his bigs well offensively, especially early in the game. Team had a good game plan and have matured as a team.

GREAT ROAD WIN GOPHERS!!! Will look good on resume later in the year, I believe.
