In some ways you can say that WR development has been mixed this year. On the other hand, it has been very encouraging to see one young receiver after another step up for a game or two throughout the season.
Tyler Johnson has been very good at times but drops way too many passes. True freshmen have shown potential but then got injured. RS FR and sophomores have come to play on various occasions.
What is most encouraging to me, however, is that there is more talent emerging at this position than we've seen for a very long time. More is coming next year and the injured players from this year will be in the mix and add depth.
Competition at a position is important. Howard emerging over Williams for now is a good thing. MN's receiving corps is only going to get better and better over the next two to four years.
