Football Film Review: Purdue

For those that want to relive the Purdue loss, @Alex Carlson breaks down the film from the first and second half

First Half:

Second Half:

Spann-Ford & Dylan Wright!!!!! Please Stand up!

They are the difference in my opinion. We have waited for Spann-Ford to get some looks and he is finally a part of the offense. And he blocks his A$$ off too.

Dylan Wright, looked like a man playing with boys his first game against Ohio State and has been basically muted every since. Why? Do we just blame the player? Did Spann finally get better and learn how to catch? These two guys should play on Sundays in my opinion based on their skill set.

But why don’t they get turned lose? Is it the offense or them? I’ll hang up and listen. If elite is the goal, we need to eat these tough conversations for breakfast. Finish your Frosted Flakes and talk to 55.

Football FLECK PRESSER NOTES: ILLINOIS WEEK

Summarizing what Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck said ahead of Saturday's game with Illinois

- Expects Mo Ibrahim to play against Illinois
- Bielema teams are incredibly physical, run the football, play-action pass...they want to beat you up
- Have a lot of experience on Illinois
- Have a lot of respect for Bielema, says he's one of the best college coaches of all-time
- Said they just didn't execute on both sides of the ball against Purdue, focused on that during the bye week
- Players responded well to the Purdue loss
- Says everything that could have went wrong against Purdue, went wrong. They were inconsistent for the first time all season
- On Illinois' defense: incredibly aggressive, have one of the best front sevens, one of best defensive lines they've faced, secondary will get up in your face and play man coverage, does a good job of disguising coverages pre-snap
- Thinks Chase Brown is one of the best running backs in the country. Gets a lot of yards after contact, very patient runner, can finish too.
- Doesn't know what quarterback they are going to face against Illinois. Played against Artur before, but doesn't see their style of offense changing drastically between the two.
- Says Illinois doesn't have a ton of calls (like them), they just play fast
- Coach Rossi simplified everything they did when he arrived. Defense looks simple, but there are a lot of nuances in their schemes, but it allows their players to play fast.
