BBall Recruiting ***2026 G CEDRIC TOMES TALKS OFFER***

Caught up with East Ridge (Minn.) 2026 guard Cedric Tomes to discuss his Minnesota offer. Here is what he had to say....

- On his interest in Minnesota:

"I love Minnesota and their program and I feel that I connect great with the coaches and the program as a whole."

- On head coach Ben Johnson and his personality:

"He’s a great basketball coach whose style of play really matches mine. He’s also a coach who at the end of the day just wants to win which is the same thing I want. From what I heard, I play pretty similarly to what he played like back when he played."

- On what Coach Johnson likes about his overall game:

"We talked a lot on that and he really emphasizes how much he loves perimeter shooting. He also likes guys who love to win and can take care of the ball and do the little things."

OTHER NOTES: Tomes said he was suppose to visit Minnesota this week, but had some travel issues pop up. So, he's planning to visit sometime soon. Told me he's also hearing from St. Thomas, Xavier, and Northern Iowa as well.

- On what stood out from his time on campus:

"Definitely the culture of the program. The great coaching, awesome staff, and amazing facilities. Loved it out there. I know the weather doesn’t stay that way all year, but it was great on the visit."

- On working with Co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Greg Harbaugh during camp:

"Was in a small group and got coached up by Coach Harbaugh and Coach Koehler the entire day. Threw with Drake Lindsey and some of their receiver commits too. Learned a lot. Even Coach (P.J.) Fleck took some time with me and coached me up. Loved his energy. Could definitely play for that staff."

- On feedback from Harbaugh about his skill set:

"Arm strength and accuracy. Liked how I can make all the throws. Said the ball just jumps. But was good too, they liked the good stuff but also coached me up on things that can help me be even better. Constantly pushing me. Loved that."

- On how much he's liking Minnesota after his visit:

"Top 5 for sure."

Football Minnesota Gophers Football Presser - Fall Camp Kickoff

In today's presser Gophers Head Coach PJ Fleck addressed the media for the 1st time to kick off 2023 Fall Camp.

Notable Insights:

1) The main battle of camps will be the RT (JJ Guedet vs Martes Lewis) and LG (Karter Shaw vs Tyler Cooper). That said Coach Fleck gave shout outs to Tony Nelson, Ashton Beers, and Greg Johnson whom he believes will help out in some manner and come ready to help this season, even if they arent starters.

2) Coach Fleck says Coach Winston Delattiboudere may have brought the DL along the best he's seen in his time as a HC. Very impressed with the young alum now DL coach.

3) Coach Fleck said the energy of the LB room has taken the form of a bunch of Mariano Sori-Marins & Cody Lindenbergs, which is a great thing.

4) PJ likes the new additions in the CB room (both transfers and young guys). Also mentioned Evan Redding has made a position change CB as well and is coming along.
