I know that no matter how big you make it someone can feel left out, but 8 feels right to me that way you get at least one non P5 team possibly. Like Troy Calhoun said, (and I know hoops is different) but teams like Butler and VCU have gone to the finals in recent years regardless of playing in weak conferences.
