With the return of the Men's Basketball Team from Italy, much of the coaching staff's focus now is setting up visits for the late summer and fall in both the official and unofficial capacity. They are beginning to make headway in that area.

Ty Berry, a 6-foot-3 point guard from the Kansas City area, will make an official visit on Thursday, August 29 when the Gophers plas their home opener against South Dakota State on the gridiron. The 143rd ranked player in the 2020 Class now attends Sunrise Christian Academy. He also took an official to Northwestern this past weekend. Those are the only two that have been scheduled thus far.

In an interview two weeks ago with Corey Evans, Berry also mentioned Iowa, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State as the other schools recruiting him the hardest. He also sounded as if he plans to decide by the Early Signing Period.

The D1 Minnesota group that holds Gopher offers will also all be on campus with Berry in the unofficial capacity. Those players are Dawson Garcia, Ben Carlson, Kerwin Walton, and Steven Crowl. None of these four have trimmed a list yet but Walton has scheduled an official for Arizona on September 26.

Another in-state player has set up his four officials and included Minnesota. Gabe Madsen, a 6-foot-5 wing out of Mayo will be in on September 13. His others will be Xavier on August 23, Cincinnati on August 29, and Northwestern on September 20.

There are also several player who the staff are hoping will add Minnesota to their final list and follow that up with an official.

Max Murrell, a 6-foot-10 stretch four from Omaha, enter the summer unranked and shot up the standings all the way to No. 99. Don't forget his dad attended the University of Minnesota, and Max took an unofficial earlier in the month. He officially visited Stanford on August 10.

Jamal Mashburn Jr. is a 6-foot-0 shooting guard out of Miami, but attends Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. He is ranked No.106 and has a nice list of offers. Auburn was the latest to come this week. Much has been made between his family's relationship with the Pitino's from their days at Kentucky. He has set up one official so far and that is to Cal on September 27.

Jakobe Coles just got a Minnesota offer. He hasn't set up any visits yet nor has he trimmed a list. The 6-foot-7, 225 pound post out of Denton, Texas is a space eater inside and puts one in mind of Jordan Murphy physically.

Karim Mane is another player who has not tipped his hand on which schools he is looking at the hardest. He is a 6-foot-4 point guard from Canada who would be a Top player in the Rivals rankings is he attended high school in the United States.

Finally, Gethro Muscadin is another name we are hearing the staff is working hard with. The 6-foot-10 big from Haiti was offered by the Gophers three weeks ago. He now holds over a dozen offers. He is going to attend SPIRE Academy in Louisville. He has yet to set up any officials.

Stay tuned to The Gopher Report as more visits get set up in the next few days.
