Towards the beginning of BTN live, Gerry Dinardo and Rick Pizzo discussed the West division contenders.
I assumed that would include Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Nebraska (people are praising the Illini, but let's be real about them. They aren't division contenders yet. Spoilers yes, contenders no).
To my surprise there was one team missing from that list. Minnesota.
Yep, after calling us a division contender all offseason, the BTN guys have already written us off.
I know it doesn't matter, but I'll be honest: this irritated me a bit. The Gophers have improved every season for the past 4 years: from 3-9 (2-6), 6-6 (3-5), 8-4 (4-4), 8-4 (5-3).
The Gophers are 3-1, with the only misstep against a top 5 squad by one score.
Now more than ever I want this to be the year Minnesota wins the West so they can't continue to 'little brother' us every year.
