We've heard a lot about the number of freshman on our rosters and maybe less on those with more experience. Taking a look at SB Nation's 2018 Returning Production rankings - we are in the top half of College football - checking in at #54 with 68% of our production returning. Production is measured against ourselves, returning production at Alabama can be low and they simply re-load. But I've been focused on the 53 freshman on the team, somewhat forgetting that we have experience, too.
With opponents - we return more production than most of our 2018 opponents: Nebraska, Northwestern, Illinois, New Mexico St, Ohio St, Maryland, Iowa, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Indiana.
For 2018, Fresno St ranks #12 in returning production, Miami-OH at #33.
Sparty is #1 in the country with a whopping 92% returning production in 2018.
What does it mean for us? I imagine injuries change things - Brooks missing action this year, TyJo and Winfield missing big chunks last year but back this year adds a boost.
The data chief on this study weighs QBs, WRs, and DBs for the largest effect. So for a team like us, it seems like we could actually out-produce in some of those groupings. But young players, depth issues with injuries make for uncertainty.
