Although this may be too big a subject for one post, I thought it might be worthwhile to address this subject initially with a broad brush and fill in later with more details. This first breakdown will address four coaching area: offense, defense, strength and conditioning and head coaches.
Kill had Limegrover as his offensive co-ordinator and line coach along with Zembrowski coaching quarterbacks. Claeys fired both of them. Fleck has Ciarrocca as his co-ordinator and quarterback coach and Warinner as his line coach. Fleck's core coaches on offense blow Kill's away. Simon-Fleck coaching wide receivers will be much better than what Poore did for Kill. Running back and tight end coaches might be seen as a draw, at this point.
Kill had Claeys as his defensive co-ordinator with Phelps coaching linemen and Miller-Sherels handling linebackers. Fleck has Smith as co-ordinator and coaching linebackers with Paup coaching linemen. Coaching of the "front seven" is a draw, in my mind, between the two staffs. Sawvel coaching defensive backs gives Kill's staff an over all advantage, however. Linquist is a relatively unproven commodity at this point.
We won't know which staff had/has a better strength and conditioning program for awhile but it is hard to imagine Fleck's teams having more injuries and, especially surgeries, than Kill's did. Fleck gets the nod over Kill as a head coach because his offenses should be so much better and he is a better recruiter than Kill. In the latter area, Fleck will get tremendous help from assistants like Warinner and Paup. Your thoughts?
