Jarvis Omersa is having an impressive senior season and it seems like every game he is making a highlight-worthy play. This alley-oop dunk he had last night was awfully impressive. His athleticism is otherworldly and he has continually improved his game throughout the past two years.

He definitely looked a bit raw at times with Pulley last summer, but one part of his game that has impressed me is his jump shooting ability. He isn't a great shooter yet but he is comfortable stepping out to 20 feet and hitting jump shots. He will likely be a guy who plays 10-15 minutes off the bench next year but his potential is extremely high. Gopher fans should be thrilled about the Murphy-Curry-Oturu-Omersa frontcourt next year and Oturu-Curry-Omersa together for the next three years.

What is one thing that Minnesota doesn't have enough of right now? Jump shooting. Only one player with more than 40 three-point attempts (Mason) is shooting better than 36% from three. Better shooting is a necessity and incoming freshman guard Gabe Kalscheur can provide that. If he can have a Dakota Mathias-like impact (Purdue shooting guard) over his four years than Minnesota should be thrilled. Mathias has shot 40% or better from three the past three years and averages 12 ppg.

Gabe's line last night:

Daniel Oturu is the highest ranked recruit in this class and someone who will be able to step in immediately and play 17-22 minutes per game. He can face up and score out to 18 feet, affects everything at the rim for opponents and is a warrior on the boards. The thing that impresses me most with Daniel is his motor. He has so much natural ability but he is someone who is unafraid to get on the floor for loose balls, he hustles back and makes plays on defense and can score in many different ways around the rim. He could also be one of the best shot blockers in the Big Ten in the near future.
