Rachel Blount, sports writer for the Strib, exposes "elimination clauses" in recent coaches employment contracts for certain Gopher Olympic sports . These clauses essentially provide that if a sport is eliminated the coach has no buyout or protection of any kind. One attorney investigating Coyle's decision to. eliminate these Gopher sports suggests this is clear evidence of an intent two years ago to do what he just announced a few weeks ago. This expression of a prior intent demonstrates the decision was not based on COVID or Title IX but to rid the department of traditional non revenue sports some of which had been a part of Gopher athletic programs for over 125 years. This is deceit and manipulation. Shame on Coyle.
