Register Now For Gopher Football Fishing Classic
The University of Minnesota Goal Line Club will host the third annual Gopher Football Fishing Classic on June 1-2, 2018, and registrations are now open.
The popular event will once again be held at Lake Koronis in Paynesville, Minn. and all activities will take place at the Bug-Bee Hive Resort, Lodge & Retreat Center on the north shore of the lake.
The all-inclusive price for the Golden Gopher Fishing Classic is $100 for adults, $50 for ages 11-20, and free for those 10 and under. The all-inclusive price includes Friday’s Tailgate Party and Saturday’s breakfast, four-hour fishing contest and the awards luncheon program.
Friday Tailgate Party: Check-in and social hour begin at 4:30 p.m. and food will be served from 4:45-6:45 p.m. There will be a program featuring former Gophers starting at 7:00 p.m. and the musical group Gig Noonan will perform from 8-10 p.m.
Fans wishing to attend only the Friday tailgate party can do so without having to participate in the Golden Gopher Fishing Classic on Saturday. The Friday-only tailgate party price is $20 for adults and $10 for ages 11-20 and free for those 10 and under.
Saturday Fishing Contest: Saturday’s festivities begin with an 8:00 a.m. breakfast. Participants will then be able to mingle with head coach P.J. Fleck and his assistant coaches. Anglers will then take to the water from 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and Scheels gifts cards will be awarded to the hourly and overall winners.
Luncheon Awards Program: The 2:15 p.m. luncheon will start with a keynote address from Coach Fleck. Awards will be presented to the winning anglers following Coach Fleck’s comments.
Fans wishing to attend only the Saturday awards luncheon can do so without having to fish earlier in the day. The Saturday-only luncheon price is $20 for adults, $10 for ages 11-20 and free for those 10 and under.
Accommodations: Lodging is available at Bug-Bee Hive Resort, Lodge & Retreat Center, as well as Paynesville Inn & Suites and Lake Koronis Regional Park. It is recommend that participants make reservations well in advance.
Participants must provide their own boat. All anglers must have a valid Minnesota fishing license, fishing gear and life jacket.
