P.J. Fleck, Mohamed Ibrahim and Jared Weyler were recognized recently for their standout performances in the Quick Lane Bowl. The Gophers stifled Georgia Tech's triple option and ran over the Yellow Jackets defense to the tune of a 34-10 win. The 24-point victory was Minnesota's largest bowl win in school history.

College Football News ranked all 76 head coaches who coached in a completed bowl game and Fleck came in at No. 8. He was the highest ranked Big Ten coach, and perhaps had the most daunting job as the Gophers changed their entire defense to face Tech's unique offense. The publication feted Fleck's coaching thusly, "Minnesota's running game dominated, the D seemed to sniff out everything, and there were little to no problems. The team looked and played perfectly prepared for what was coming."

Ibrahim was named to USA Today Sports all-bowl team after gashing the Tech defense for two touchdowns and 224 yards on 31 carries. Ibrahim set a freshman single-game record with 224 yards and produced the 12th-best rushing game in school history. His 224 rushing yards were the most by a Gopher since Laurence Maroney ran for 258 yards against Wisconsin in 2005 and were the second most ever by a Gopher in a bowl game (Tellis Redmon, 246 yards against N.C. State in the 2000 MicronPC Bowl).

Weyler was named to The Associated Press all-bowl team and he and the rest of the offensive line were a big reason why Ibrahim was able to have an historic day. Weyler was the lone senior starter on offense and anchored a line that started three freshman (two true and one redshirt) and one sophomore. Weyler set the tone up front as Minnesota dominated the line of scrimmage and ended the season with a bowl win.
