"New Maryland Head Coach Durkin demonstrates how fortunes can change quickly in college football. The Terrapins, more of a basketball school, had a 3-9 record last season, tied for last place in the Big Ten conference. Durkin arrives and they immediately pop a stronger recruiting class than the once ascendant Minnesota Gophers and they are about to flip and sign three of the Golden Gopher's best 2016 recruiting commitments. Former Head Coach Jerry Kill defined the Gophers but then left during the 2015 season due to health concerns. Now the contrast between the lumbering, abrupt Tracy Claeys, Minnesota's new coach, and the high energy, engaging D J Durkin is stunningly evident to recruits. Here comes Maryland. There goes Minnesota."
