Alex Huston is a junior at Springfield Glendale HS in Missouri... His ONE SEASON...ONE SEASON... stats are 365-515 for 5790 yards.... 73 TD passes and 9 interceptions... Fastest prep QB to 10,000 yards passing(20 games) in the history of HS football.... 6-1 185 listed but probably just a tick under 6-0 in reality.

Huston lived in Kenton, Ohio and was poised to be the next prodigy of the spread offense of Mike Mauk at Kenton, who won 2 state titles with middle son, Ben, as the QB.. Ben held the national record for most passing yards until younger brother, Maty, took the record from him, also at Kenton.. Both Ben's and Maty's stories are well documented but Alex Huston wanted to be the next great one from the small town east of Lima, Ohio. Huston's family knew the Mauks from the time Alex was in elementary school...

In a move that was puzzling to some but, as nice as the Mauk family is, I agree with Kenton's school board decision to not renew Mike's contract. There was nothing bad sexually that happened nor with alcohol/drugs nor lawbreaking on Mike's part, but there was a definite difference of philosophy between Mauk and the school system that it was better if they parted ways, IMO. So the Mauk family knew Maty was headed to University of Missouri at the time and their daughter was already married and in the Springfield, Missouri area, as well. SO Mike Mauk looked to move to Missouri and applied for HS football jobs there. Mike has a ton of D1 college contacts and people knew what he had done with Kenton's football program, so finding a job in the area was no problem... Alex Huston's family found out right away that the Mauks were moving and were so convinced of Mike and Ben Mauk's coaching ability of their son that they moved from Kenton to find a place to live out in Springfield.... Alex's dad had been out of work in the area so it wasn't a hard decision to move as he had nothing to lose.

Once again, like at Kenton, Mauk's first season was not very good at 2-8 but 2 years later, they are 11-0 with a great chance at a state championship in Missouri.. Alex Huston leads them and has a strong arm and EXCELLENT technique as a QB.. Always has his eyes up and looking down field.. Footwork is very good... Ben Mauk is his offensive coordinator and Mike Mauk is the head coach... This is a kid that I think every program ought to take a look at, so I thought I would share it.
