I have my share of friends involved in athletics but I also have many other friends that read or know about quirky things, which keeps life interesting for me. One was sharing to me about cities and their populations.. Some of these things he showed me were total shocks to me.. He showed me the population of the Twin Cities and others in the top 200 cities in the US in terms of populations. I thought I would just share some of these quirky things. THIS ONLY CONSIDERS THE CITY PROPER, and not the surrounding metropolitan areas.
-The population of Columbus, Ohio alone is not much smaller than the populations of Cleveland, CIncinnati, and Dayton combined.
- The Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex has 4 of the top 100 populated US cities.(Dallas, Ft Worth, Irving, and Arlington).. 3 of those are in the top 50 cities in the US in population.
- Ft Wayne, Indiana is bigger than Orlando, Florida in population(Used Ft Wayne because it is only a few hours from me)
- Nashville, Louisville, and .......Mesa, Arizona have larger populations than Atlanta, Georgia.
- Bakersfield, California: Omaha, Nebraska; and Aurora, Colorado have larger city populations than St Louis, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or St Paul, Minnesota.
I know some of that has to do with people not filling out their forms for the census but i think those are some interesting facts. St Paul though is actually not a very big city in terms of square miles. San Francisco(which is smaller than San Jose) and Miami are smaller in square miles as is Boston, Massachusetts compared to St Paul but are more densely populated.
