This roster is severely lacking talent, but has a bunch of senior grit and wherewithal. Despite their limitations they play hard for him and seem to know what they are doing within what Johnson is asking of them.
On the final possession, Johnson proved his coaching chops with his play call. Sure Stephens blew another layup, but I really liked the final drive. Pitino would have had the boys throw it around the perimeter and let Carr jack a shit shot. Instead, the drive and missed layup opened up the lane for a Loewe put back.
I’m glad Pitino is in New Mexico.
