Buffalo receiver Treyton Welch: “It went pretty well! Highlight would have been talking to the coaches. I just said ‘hi’ personally to Fleck, and everything else was with Coach Simon. I am really impressed with Athletes Village.”

Monticello lineman Kyle Downs: “The Junior Day was amazing! I live to hear Coach Fleck and his amazing R.T.B. message. There’s no better future to follow than that. I also met with the offensive line coach Callahan, and he seems like a very positive and high quality coach. The new facilities were elite, and so was my visit.”

Wisconsin kicker Blake Wilcox (No. 19 kicker on Kohl's Kicking): “The facilities were incredible. It was a really good and somewhat overwhelming experience. If you would’ve told me a year ago that I would be where I am today, I’d laugh. I started kicking last summer and have come a long way since then and still have a long way to go. The coaches at Minnesota have a philosophy of constantly getting better to reach your goals, and they will do whatever it takes to get you there. It was really exciting to hear someone as motivated to make me better as I am. Beyond blessed.”

Three-star Michigan athlete Kobe Myers: “The Junior Day went very well. Minnesota is a very special place and the coaching staff is something special. I really connected with them. Minnesota impressed me a lot, and they are one of the schools at the top of my list now. PJ Fleck is building something special there and I hope to be a part of it someday.”

Three-star Detroit athlete Jalen Graham: “It was great and the highlight was probably getting a chance to sit and talk with Coach Fleck. My impression of Minnesota is that they are building something great there.”

Desmond Hutson didn’t attend. He was planning to miss his basketball game to attend but stayed home to play in his game.

MARCH 4 EVENING UPDATE

Devontae Dobbs: “Very beautiful school. Makes you wanna come back, so I’ll do so!”

Nick Broeker (from today's article): “At Junior Day, we toured campus, the new facilities, TCF Bank Stadium, met with academic counselors, and position groups. After that, we all went bowling... My highlights from the trip were the awesome facilities and spending quality time with coaches. The coaches I talked to were Kenni Burns and Brian Callahan. They talked about the culture and how they do things.”

JJ Guedet (from our commitment article): “It was at the end of Junior Day. (The visit) solidified how great everything was like our first visit and impression, so I decided it was time. I told Fleck (about the commitment) by himself first. He was in his office when I told him. He asked me if I was sure and when I said yes, he jumped into my arms. There was a staff meeting going on in another room, so he walked me in there and we told them, and they just all went nuts… I got to Junior Day earlier than most. I had a one-on-one meeting with Coach Callahan and talked to him for a little bit and went around the new facility. Throughout the day, we went and saw both locker rooms, got to tour campus, and saw everything in the new facility. I also got to talk with Fleck and the head athletic trainer… The biggest thing for me were the coaches. Coach Cally (Brian Callahan) played a dark horse in this. I hadn’t talked to him very much until pretty recently, but he came to my school and we had a one-on-one meeting and developed a great relationship. Coach Burns played a really great role in my recruiting. He got to know me and my parents very well. And Coach Fleck of course is a special person and he’s building something at Minnesota.”

Jalen Graham: “I talked to Coach Addae, Coach Burns, Coach Fleck, Coach Smith, and Coach Celiscar. Me and Coach Fleck talked about me coming there and playing right away and that was the most memorable conversation.” I’ll have a story with more quotes from Graham coming soon.

Ralph Orubo: "I enjoyed it a lot. Coach Fleck's energy is something else!! The part I really enjoyed was going to the position group meeting with Coach Rossi. He definitely knows what he's doing, and has a very commanding persona. My impression of the U of M is somewhere I might see myself end up. Obviously as a Minnesota grown kid playing for the Gophers would be cool, but as of now, I'll be happy wherever I end up because I know I'll make the best of it."

Dorian Moore: "It was a dream that will soon be a reality."

Kobe Myers: "At the Junior Day, I hung around the coaches and saw the facilities. They showed me everything. My highlights from the trip was seeing the city. I didn’t know Minnesota was such a big city - it almost reminded me of New York. I talked to Coach Burns and Addae pretty much the whole time. They both think I could be a really good safety and they both where impressed about my height and size. I feel like I know the coaches well but I also feel like I wanna get to know them even better, so I been staying in contact with them and just building up the relationship."
