Mitch Leidner
  • Playing against Penn State will be unique because of Beaver Stadium's noise and some younger players it being their first road game
  • Jay Johnson has the players go into stations and work on ball drills, and that's helped with catching.
  • First thing thought when seeing the Leidner tailgate was "dude, I love you."
  • One of the great things about playing at Minnesota is the four rivalry trophies.
  • Going into Michigan his freshman year, had no idea how loud it was. Now he's talking to younger players about the noise and playing on the road.
  • Personally excited to see Beaver Stadium and Penn State's campus.
Nate Wozniak
  • Getting settled in during warmups and getting comfortable right away is important on big road games.
  • Blocking scheme differences from last year: There's a little more doubling up front, trying to get the lineman more vertical. More simplified in that way.
  • Playing Limegrover is definitely in the back of everyone's minds.
  • Body control and "working out of my routes" are his biggest improvements. More comfortable getting out of his breaks and more balanced.
  • Gets comments from opponent about his size and basketball all the time.
  • Played basketball through junior year but football has always been his favorite because he likes to hit people.
Jon Celestin
  • Saquon Barkley is the biggest guy that stands out on film. He's a mix of the running backs the defense plays in practice, so they're not too worried.
  • A lot more into film now than he used to be. Feels a lot more comfortable and knowledgeable on the field.
  • Thinks he's improved in pass coverage, too by getting into windows, holding people off more, improving man-to-man coverage.
  • Thinks he's the hardest hitter on the team. Thumper is his name in the locker room.
Tracy Claeys
  • Not sure about Coney Durr's injury. He's out but it's not season ending. No more comment.
  • Probably three more weeks still until Rashad Still and Brandon Lingen will return.
  • Will make decision about Kiondre Thomas redshirting this week. If he doesn't play against Penn State, they want to redshirt him.
  • Doesn't anticipate less presnap adjustments even with all the noise at Beaver Stadium.
  • Concern this week is the Saquon Barkley. Running backs have hurt us and he's one of the best in the country. Also good on screens, which is an area opponents have exploited.
  • Mitch is going through progressions and not worried about finding a main target. Pleased with where the offense is at.
  • Connor Olson could play if there are other injuries on the offensive line. Olson and Thomas are the only two on the fence about redshirting.
  • Not for sure if they can play both 3-4 and 4-3. "Can't do both to everything." Doesn't think the 3-4 is good at stopping the run.
  • There's not a lot of player safety when it comes to defense.
  • No added element by playing Matt Limegrover.
  • Taiyon Devers' injury is his ankle, opponent tried to cut him.
  • The increase in season ticket price makes attendance difficult. Wouldn't be any different if TCU came here to play again. Ultimately, winning is what matters.
  • What's the move if he wins? Coach Kill liked ice cream, Claeys likes to get back and watch other college football games and eat pizza.
