I saw your tweet about Davonte Fitzgerald's assists being less than Morris, though you certainly qualified that by saying he wasn't an experienced distributor... I have seen a few of the stats and I know you were just pointing those stats out, which is good. But how did Texas A&M use him?? Was he kind of a guy off the bench that assumed a certain role for them?? Scorer? Defender when the Aggies need to stop an opponents' best scorer? The lack of assists don't bother me as much if Fitzgerald isn't handling the ball as much as Carlos. If he was handling the ball quite a bit, then it becomes an issue, in my mind.
I am not saying this was a probable role for Fitzgerald but if he was a 'catch and shoot' guy or told to attack the rim every chance he got, that 'green light' would be more of mentality that isnt going to produce a lot of assists. I am interested to see what his court vision will be like, when he plays. Last year, if that knee was bothering him that much, I don't think that any low stat line that he had is a big deal. Especially if this redshirt year gives him a chance to recover. I hope he is a solid contributor to the program.
