The Mountain West Conference seems to be the feeder conference for possible future Gopher Basketball coaches... Brian Dutcher(San Diego State), Craig Smith(Utah State) and Niko Medved(Colorado State) are all out there in that conference.. Last night, Utah State beat Colorado State(Smith vs. Medved) so now it is a championship battle of San Diego State vs. Utah State for the conference tournament championship.
CBS is carrying the game on national TV at 5 PM Central Time so if you want to see Brian Dutcher vs. Craig Smith's teams and how they coach, this is a great game to see if you want to see their strategies against good competition.. I have seen the teams and they have good players but definitely not at the Big Ten level. So that has to be kept in mind though it is style and motivation of players as well as systems, to look for in this game.. It is pretty good basketball, though, so it still should be fun. If you are a Gopher fan, this one would appeal to your interest, I am guessing.
