As the staff scrambled to recruit new players and add the first name to the 2019 commitment list, there are two new names on the radar.
Richard Pitino and his staff have been to Atlanta to see point guard, Tony Johnson Jr. He is originally from Eufaula, Alabama, but is spending a year in prep school at The Skill Factory Prep.
Standing at 6-foot-4, he has offers from Auburn, Georgia, St.Louis, South Alabama, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, Santa Clara, St. Bonaventure, Middle Tennessee State, Fresno State, and Jacksonville State.
He doesn’t have an offer yet, but the staff is keeping tabs on him. He also plans to visit campus hopefully later in the month.
Marvin Williams III is another name to watch. Another 6-foot-4 guard, he is originally from the Dallas area, but now attends Wasatch Academy in Texas.
He visited Minnesota over the weekend and also picked up an offer. He has other offers from Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, Old Dominion, Tulane, and Western Kentucky.
