The Gopher football team welcomed nine new student-athletes this week, as they enrolled for the spring semester. Spring practice starts in early March, but before these newcomers don the pads for the first time in Maroon and Gold, they need a number. Players are listed in numerical order.

5 // Zack Annexstad // Quarterback
Attended IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla. • wore No. 18 for the Ascenders • as a senior, completed 63-of-112 passes for 940 yards and 10 touchdowns, as he helped lead IMG Academy to an undefeated season • finished career with 1,137 passing yards and 14 touchdowns.

7 // Vic Viramontes // Quarterback
Attended Riverside Community College in Riverside, Calif. • wore No. 10 for the Tigers • led team to a 10-2 record and a first place finish in the National Central division • threw for 1,868 yards and 22 touchdowns and rushed for a state-leading 1,346 yards and 21 touchdowns • named 2017 First-Team California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) All-American • named CCCAA Offensive Player of the Year and SCFA Central Division Offensive Player of the Year • coached by Tom Craft.

24 // Bishop McDonald // Defensive Back
Played in 23 games at Minnesota Duluth and made 78 tackles, defended 16 passes, made three interceptions, forced two fumbles, recovered one fumble and blocked one kick • in 2017, played in 12 games and made 47 tackles (32 solo), defended nine passes and returned one of his two interceptions 30 yards for a touchdown • in 2016, played in 11 games and made 31 tackles (20 solo) and defended seven passes.

26 // True Thompson // Wide Receiver
Spent two years at Iowa Western Community College, which included a redshirt year • played in 10 games and made four receptions for 65 yards.

28 // Thomas Rush // Linebacker
Attended Marysville High School in Marysville, Ohio • wore No. 27 for the Monarchs • played linebacker and running back and was named First Team All-Central District in 2017 • as a junior, rushed 261 times for 1,400 yards and 12 touchdowns • named First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Region and Special Mention All-Metro • coached by Morgan Cotter.

30 // Alex Reigelsperger // Defensive Line
Attended Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio • wore No. 30 for the Warriors • as a senior, started at defensive end and led team to a 7-3 record • tallied 12.5 sacks and 107 tackles in 2017 • combined for 16.5 sacks and 104 tackles his sophomore and junior seasons • named All-Ohio three times • named first team all-Greater Western Ohio Conference in 2015, 2016 and 2017 • coached by Jay Minton.

51 // Curtis Dunlap Jr. // Offensive Line
Attended IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla. • wore No. 51 for the Ascenders • helped IMG Academy to three straight undefeated seasons • as a senior, anchored an offense that averaged 27.8 points and 177 rushing yards per game • helped IMG Academy reach No. 2 in the MaxPreps High School football rankings • named a 2017 preseason All-American by MaxPreps • named a 2016 Junior All-American by MaxPreps • invited to compete in the 2018 Under Armour All-America Game • coached by Kevin Wright.

66 // Nathan Boe // Offensive Line
Attended Lakeville North High School in Lakeville, Minn. • wore No. 66 for the Panthers • anchored an offense that averaged 28.7 points per game • named All-Metro Second Team in 2016 and 2017 • coached by Brian Vossen.

78 // Daniel Faalele // Offensive Line
Attended IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla. • wore No. 78 for the Ascenders • helped IMG Academy to an undefeated season in 2017, which was his first season of playing competitive football • anchored an offense that averaged 27.8 points and 177 rushing yards per game • invited to compete in the 2018 Under Armour All-America Game • was at IMG Academy in 2016, but only practiced with the team as he became acclimated to the sport • coached by Kevin Wright.
