I never posted an Iowa schaudenfreude thread with the comments of anxious and/or irritated Herky fans. So I'm posting some of their comments here. Sorry this is largely old info, but I will write a further thread with some Herky reaction both to the Mayfield commit and their responses to me poking them over the Mayfield commit.
*Thread shortly after PJ took the job and got 9 commits in short order
'I've had a peanut gallery view of the community reaction up here living among the locals. I will say there is an apprehensive excitement up here that I haven't witnessed before. Most people seem to think Claeys got a raw deal and Fleck's shtick is in a probationary period thanks to Brewster and the general passivity of the locals, it feels feels like people are overall pretty darn excited. Heck, in one weekend, they got six new commits and their recruiting ranking jumped about 20 spots. It would be fun to have this kind of hope and buzz around the Iowa program again. Davis retiring sort of has that feel, but on a much lower scale.' --General Tso
'Super hire for the Gophers. At this point, I'm just hoping that KF doesn't become Fleck's beotch before he decides to hang it up. Assuming KF has 2-4 years left, I'm afraid his last game vs. Minnesota might be similar to Hayden's.' ---MeettheFerentz
'Time will tell...at least there's excitement and he's young. Have to think advantage Gophers.' --Hawkbleeder
["Ask Iowa state fans about all the hope and buzz around the program when they bring in a new coach. Is all good from this time through spring and summer then fall hits and reality sets in. If Iowa brought in 8 MAC decommits or with mainly MAC offers half this board would be going crazy whining about recruiting." --ihawkeyes17
'8 Mac decommits describes most our recruiting classes.' --General Tso]

Just being complimentary of what's going on in Minnesota, and realistic with what's going on in Iowa City.
Minnesota is coming off a bowl win despite utter chaos with the team, then went on to hire one of the hottest G5 coaches in the nation, who performed a true miracle at WMU. Iowa, meanwhile, is coming off yet another embarrassing bowl no-show, and after displaying one of the worst offenses in college football, is looking to replace their beleaguered dinosaur OC with....the coach's kid, who has never coached a WR or QB, and never called an offensive play at any level.
To me, that's the very definition of programs headed in opposite directions.
Edit - Forgot to mention that after 1 week on the job, Fleck already has put together a better 2017 recruiting class than Iowa. --MeettheFerentz]
[The highest guy that has come over with him is a 5.6 guy. Not a lot to rave about, imo. --MitchL
Dude, 10 of our 14 recruits are 5.6 or lower. --CP84]
[Everyone talks about how great they think Ivory Kelly-Martin, Brandon Smith and Matt Hankins will be but then diminish recent Minnesota additions Ibrahim, Chambers and Bell who are all on par with those guys.
I think it's understood that Minnesota and ISU for that matter are not recruiting at the level of top 25 programs but it's easy to recognize that the two new coaches have really polished a turd with their incoming classes. Minnesota especially with a short timeline until signing day plus the fallout of his predecessor just a week removed.
We're comparing a program just coming off a major scandal and a new coach hired weeks away from signing day with one that just played in 2 straight January Bowl games. We should be killing ISU and Minny in the recruiting rankings at this point. --CP84]
