Strengths: length, attacks the ball, physicality with receivers, willing tackler

Weaknesses: technique, at times a bit lazy in his backpedal/melt

Nubin is a 6’2” cornerback out of St. Charles North, Illinois with solid hips/quickness for his size. He gives the Gophers a lot of length at the cornerback position. Having also played on the other side of the ball, he has a wide receiver mentality as a defensive back and attacks the ball when it is in the air. He is also a willing and capable tackler. From a physical standpoint, there is a lot to like about Nubin. He excels at man-coverage when he can get his hands on receivers and be physical with them.

When playing off the ball, he can get a bit lazy with his technique/backpedal as he expects that he can catch up to the receivers and at times can fall a couple steps behind the receiver in that process. He doesn’t have great acceleration to top speed, so that will be something he will need to address at the next level is having consistent technique/effort from that perspective.

I expect Nubin to come in and compete when he steps on campus. That may not mean he will start, but I think he’ll put himself in a position early that the coaches will give him consideration.
