Senior Day is always bittersweet. Great to see our young athletes finishing their time at college as they step into the world. But it's also a reminder of how time flies for a football program, its players, and all of us.
This is a small class, but what a story.
Tyler Johnson - One of our all-time greats at WR. Mpls North kid with options to play for our more established rivals. Stayed home, emphasized MN & Mpls pride. He will make a NFL GM look very smart.
Tai'yon Devers - Stormed onto the scene as a true frosh with the CSU sacks, stuck with it and has been in the rotation in this historic season.
Kamal Martin - Another local star, from the suburbs. Played in the rotation all four years and will be in the NFL.
Thomas Barber - Local, legacy recruit, fills out another chapter of the Barber dynasty. For those of us who tailgated with the GLC on the HHH suface lot, we remember little Thomas Barber barreling through the lot as he watched his big brothers MBIII and Dom.
Carter Coughlin - Local, legacy recruit. Could have left after Kill-Claeys transition - instead chose the challenging path of building something special. Elite talent, will be a great NFL player.
Rodney Smith - An all time RB for us. Almost quietly became one of our best RBs ever. Persevered through transitions and tough times.
Shannon Brooks - So many memorable games - such a physical, violent runner. Like his Georgia counterpart Rodney, persevered through tough times.
Chris Williamson - Transfer from UF who has become a major part of our defense. INT against WI, pick-six in the opener, huge 4th down stop against PSU. Came at a time where we needed back-end help on defense.
Winston DeLattiboudere - Starting rotation for several years - hung with the program and has emerged as a leader. Gets his Master's Degree in a few weeks.
Jacob Hebers - Our long-time punter and also our holder, who has seen a lot of football in his 5 years. Mech Engineering grad.
Sam Renner - Awesome story, PWO from Maple Grove who grew into a starting role and Rossi believes he will play in the NFL. Need one or two of these every year.
Michael Tarbutt - Came to us from UConn. Kicked at PAT against Maryland.
*Antione WInfield Jr. - Obviously nothing announced, but if this is AWJr's final game at TCF he's worthy of mention. An all-timer for sure. Started as true frosh, fought through injuries for two years. Overcame a dark period in our program with Title IX and has come on this year as an absolute beast.
** I was unsure of grad transfer players like Micah Dew-Treadway, Ben St. Juste, and Alex Mevlin.
All the best to our departing seniors. We're not done yet, but from our perch at TCF, thank you for the memories.
