We are in damn good shape!
The team needed, the fan base needed and I needed to see this team TAKE the victory. The way we handled business tonight with such a young core of players was simply amazing.
Truthfully, I came into this game wanting to see what we were made of. I know I predicted 44-27 and was way off, but that was for fun. I knew this would be a damn tough game and came away highly impressed with our play. I got everything I wanted AND MORE.
Plenty to improve on, but we now see the core of our future. They are DAMN GOOD. Zack and Bateman on O are gonna be fun to watch for years. Terell Smith is gonna be a shut down corner like Murray, but with better instincts. The kid has the potential to be a high ranking interception machine and play on Sunday’s.
I love the sprinkling of veteran leadership on D, bringing it all together with OJ plugging the middle, Cashman running all over the field making plays, Barber with thumping tackles and of course AW Jr.
On offense, I’m gonna give more credit to the Oline than most. Sure I want more push and gaps for the backs, but generally Zack is getting enough time to keep him settled. That’s huge. Rodney is irreplaceable and will be terribly missed if the injury is serious, but we must adjust. I love Seth Green taking his opportunity by the horns! Huge impact and desperately needed! Proud of that kid!
Just so much to say, but I’m really ready for this to be the turning point that jumpstarts the Gopher resurgence! This season may not be the one that leads to the promised land, but we needed this win to help get us directed down the right path to future greatness. This was HUGE!
