My question is what has he done to deserve that?? Get elected President?? I would question this even if my favorite Republican won the award without holding the office yet, that he has been elected!!

Influential?? Hmmm.. The U.S. and any organization has the right to name whomever they want for whatever awards they want.. I get it and appreciate that freedom.. But it is amazing to me how we are 'victims of the moment' in how we think.. To me, it is almost how we view entertainment with the Kardashians and even Elizabeth Taylor, in the day. OKAY, Elizabeth Taylor had a couple of movies. WHAT HAVE THE KARDASHIANS OR ELIZABETH TAYLOR DONE?? They are "FAMOUS FOR BEING FAMOUS", that is about it. Yet fans fawn over them(Yes Taylor is now deceased so that is past tense) We are 'creatures of the moment' and 'victims of our own vanity', which is a indictment of all of us, to be honest.

All of us need a reminder of our vanity, even me. I remember years ago, I went to a tennis tournament in Cincinnati... The top 5 ranked female players in the world were there, at the time.. Also, a tennis player who was Russian that had the media's attention for her looks, body, and legs, to be honest.. It was unbelievable.. They had practice courts where the players would stay sharp, on the days of the tournament that they did not play.. The TOP 5 FEMALE PLAYERS in the world would have maybe 50-100 fans watching the practice of those players on off days.. The Russian player, Anna Kournikova, HAD NOT WON ANYTHING IN TERMS OF PRO TOURNAMENTS, LET ALONE MAJOR TOURNAMENTS, IN WOMEN'S SINGLES. Yet for some strange reason, she rose to number 8 ranking in the world in women's singles without ever winning a tournament or barely ever making the finals in any pro tournament ..Hmmmm. She had teen males drooling all over themselves surrounding the practice court as well as middle aged to senior aged men who wished they were teens again, also drooling all over themselves watching Kournikova practice. Kournikova has the flowing blond hair, gorgeous looks, nice body, and the long tan legs. That seemed to be the draw more than the quality of her tennis.. I am not lying when I say that people were lined up 6-7 ROWS BACK, ALL AROUND THE PRACTICE COURT, just to get a glimpse of Kournikova in person. Did not see any of that for the top 5 females in the world in tennis, at the time. Accomplishment, kindness, and personality seemed to take a back seat. But I have found myself falling victim to that type of thinking, as well, in many cases.

I am sounding like I am 'on the high horse' here, I know, but I see a commonality in the story of Kournikova being fawned over and Biden winning Man of the Year. We have to challenge ourselves to NOT BE captive in the moment and victims of our own vanity, in more important things than these awards.. It is easy to fall into, no doubt, but I feel we need to make an effort to uplift and prioritize kindness, thoughtfulness, accomplishment for the good, compassion, and hard work as the virtues we want to extoll. If Biden has groundbreaking accomplishments, so be it and he deserves the accolades. But if it is just 'kissing the right rear ends' or being the object of others' vanity, maybe we need to re-think how we prioritize things in our lives.
