Our team got better today when Michael Blockhus announced that he was transferring from UNI to MN!!! Blockhus had entered the transfer portal a week ago and he made his announcement today on Twitter. He was 22-10 last year at 141#s as a redshirt freshman, took 5th in the Big 12 tournament, and was seeded #13 at the (cancelled) 2020 Natty tournament.

Most articles I've read on this, say that he will be wrestling 149#s for MN, which means that current 149 pounder Brayton Lee must be moving up to 157#s. Either way, Blockhus is a great addition to our line-up and he will definitely MAKE US STRONGER!!!

2020 national qualifier Michael Blockhus is headed north to Minneapolis. The redshirt sophomore announced his decision Monday via Twitter.

This announcement comes one week after Blockhus announced he would be leaving Northern Iowa and entered the transfer portal.

A big pickup for the Gophers, Blockhus went 22-10 last year, finished fifth at the Big 12 tournament and was the 13-seed at the NCAA Championships. Although he has spent all of last season and his redshirt season at 141 lbs, Blockhus is expected to go up to 149 in 2021. Meaning Brayton Lee, another 2020 national qualifier, will most likely be moving up to 157 lbs.
