There's a big Freestyle / Greco Roman UWW Junior and Senior National tournament this weekend in Coralville, IA and many former, current and future Gophers will be participating. The top five placers at each weight in the Senior Nationals will advance to the World Team Trials in September and the Champions of the Junior Nationals will qualify for the Junior World Championships in August.
This is an excellent event for current and future Gophers to gain experience and to get some good competition during the off season.

A contingent of Golden Gophers wrestlers will participate in this weekend's UWW Junior and Senior Nationals at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa. Competition in freestyle begins at 10 a.m. Central on Saturday with the tournament concluding on Sunday.
The top five place winners in each weight class in the senior bracket will advance to the 2021 World Team Trials in September. Champions in the junior tournament will qualify for the 2021 UWW Junior World Championships in August.
Leading the list of current Golden Gophers is two-time All-American Brayton Lee and two-time NCAA qualifier Michael Blockhus at 70kg in the senior division. They will be joined by Jake Bergeland at 65kg.
Two-time All-American and Gopher alum Devin Skatzka will compete at 79kg. Dan DeShazer (61kg), Elroy Perkin (70kg) and Ryan Epps (79kg) will participate as part of Minnesota's Regional Training Center, the Gopher Wrestling Club (GWC).
Seeking junior national titles are a trio of Minnesota wrestlers in Matt Ramos (57kg), Theo Cha (65kg), Marcos Polanco (65kg) and Rowan Morgan (92kg). Polanco was a 2021 NCAA qualifier at 141 pounds.
